The Red Fort or Lal Qila (Hindustani Lal Qila is an ancient fort located in the Old Delhi neighbourhood of Delhi, India, that historically was the principal home of Mughal emperors. The emperor Shah Jahan commissioned the construction of the Red Fort on 12 the 12th May 1638, after it was decided that he would move the city of his residence away from Agra in the state of Agra to Delhi. It was initially white and red. the design was attributed to the architect Ustad Ahmad lahori who also designed his famous Taj Mahal. The fort is a symbol of the highest point of Mughal architectural style in the time of Shah Jahan and is a blend of Persia's palace design with Indian customs.
